Have you ever wondered why God uses the weak to show His great strength? Some of the most incredible testimonies of God’s mercy, grace and power come from those who endure the greatest “tests” in life. I just love how God works. I Corinthians 1:27 tells us,“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;” (NKJV) Then again in Isaiah 40:29, “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.” (NKJV)
I will be honest. When I wrote the title of this blog last week, I meant to publish it a couple of days after my last blog titled “Transformed” I had scriptures in my notes to use but God has taken me to look at this blog from a different angle. Different scriptures are coming to mind and as I look them up, the blog is indeed changing. You see, I’m just a weak vessel in dire need of “filling” by the Holy Spirit daily. We are nothing until God pours into us. We are weak, weary, tired,incapable but with God, it’s a whole different story. I’m so thankful.
It is such a wonder to see Isiah 61 in the present. Beauty from ashes, Joy instead of mourning, praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. Here is the scripture: “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”” Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)
I get it! I see God at work in things around me. He doesn’t tend to call those who have it all together. He equips those He calls. They are most likely a weak humble vessel but He equips them to do His work. I want to share one breif example that happened a few months ago. While ministering at RiceNBeans, another staff and I were talking to two men waiting at the bus stop. These people live in poverty, while others are homeless. My friend was interpreting for me so I could understand the conversation. It was so neat to see one man ministering to another. We were there to minister to them but God uses them to minister to us. I remember the man telling the other man that God has an appointed time for us to die. He said he had tried to take his life several times, but he was still alive because God was not finished. Talking about a testimony of God’s perfect timing and molding that man to see “HIS”hand on his life. Another man said he was so blessed because he knows Jesus. God pours into these precious people. He will pour into you also.
Do you see what I’m seeing? We are created to bring glory to the Lord. We do not glory in our selves or our own accomplishments, rather we crucify our fleshly nature. Galatians 5:24-25 says, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. (NLT)
God is so so faithful! Last Sunday at church as we sang the last song, tears rolled down my cheeks. We were singing “Great is they faithfulness”. If you are a believer you probably know the song. For those reading who might not know it, part of it says: “morning by morning new mercies I see, all I have need thy hands have provide, great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me.” That is so incredibly true. Every single morning God pours out fresh mercies on us. Years ago I came across Lamentations 3: 20-24; “I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”” ( NLT)
Wow! I will honestly say, this blog took a completely different turn from what I thought it would be. However that is great because I never want blogging to be what I want to say but rather what God gives me to say. It won’t always be on the timetable I desire. (I meant to do this last week but God had me wait) I am not perfect and struggle daily As a matter of fact I apologized to my husband yesterday because my attitude was off. I saw it and was not happy with my responses. Living with hearing and visual issues can be wearying. It is frustrating to do things according to when others are ready. I wanted to get the grocery shopping done early but I don’t drive so I had to wait until late afternoon. Waiting is the story of my life! Last night our son Joshua was frustrated because he wanted to be able to just get in the car and drive himself to the gym rather than wait for his friend who was delayed a couple of hours. It can be a “walled in” kind of feeling, but God! Joshua was also preparing for a test but had trouble seeing the book font. He took pictures of each page on his iPad so he could zoom in to see. Where there is a will, there is a way! Amen! God uses our weaknesses to mold our character. Oh if you only knew….
I will end with this last scripture: ”That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NLT)
Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus. He is our strength, our fortress. He will never let us down. Be encouraged. Whatever you are facing, God has you! You are loved! Www.shannonkhinson.com

I have been waiting for the right time to blog about the Angel Oak Tree I saw in Charleston, S.C. last week. As a deep thinker, I knew there were some hidden insights to discover so I’ve waited until the Holy Spirit moved in my heart and brought something to light.
Life is such a tremendous combination of things.Yet if you will be still before the Lord , He will bring revelation and peace. As I waited for a hidden “gem” connected to this tree, I kept wondering what to write about. I looked at the pictures of the Angel Oak Tree my friends took and shared with me. It is so incredibly BIG and is said to be between 300-400 years old.
Can you even imagine all the things the tree has lived through? Think about it! It was around during the American Revolutionary War. Perhaps it was a part of the action of the Siege of Charleston that occurred during 1780! What about weather: tropical cyclones, high winds, flooding, hurricanes? Alright, I might be carried away here but I’m thinking on the implications of what the Angel Oak Tee has endured, it’s pretty astounding. I did a Google search on hurricanes that have hit the area and the earliest one on record is in the late 1800’s. Here is a short list of hurricanes of category 3 or higher: 1893 Great Charleston Hurricane, Hurricane Hazel in 1954, Hurricane Gracie in 1959 and Hurricane Hugo in1989. Scroll back up and take a good look at the magnificent Angel Oak Tree that has endured much. Zoom in on the branches, how they grow up and out, then downward, with some branches touching the ground, then rise upward again with healthy green leaves at the canopy. The canopy gives a shading of 17,000 square feet. One of the signs near one of the tree limbs said some of the limbs are hollow. Yet they are still alive with green leaves. All this just blows my mind. It’s hard to wrap my mind around how incredible God’s creation is.
This morning as I had my quiet time, I read a devotion on our church app. The devotion was about how we can’t quit. The enemy has a plan of attack to drain us and make us weary and ineffective. We get tried and drained by life and it’s imperative to know the enemies tactics. (That could be a whole different blog right there. Maybe later if the Lord leads me to come back to that topic). But God! Don’t quit. Jesus will give us His peace when it seems we have lost our joy. When complaints seem to swirl around us and we get tired of the fight. Hold on to Jesus! John 16:33 says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” (NKJV)
Let’s face it, life is not an easy ride. I really don’t understand why some people have to deal with so much. I will give you an example of my own life. While I don’t complain, it IS draining to deal with hearing and vision issues. It is what it is! I attempt daily to find a positive spin on whatever, you know the “silver liner” , but I fall so short. It’s kind of like one of those big tree branches being knocked so often that it begins to grow down to the ground. It’s like, “Lord how much longer?”, and you “hit the ground”. Somehow you begin to grow upward again…. Yes… rising up for the next challenge. If the tree is any indication, we will endure many ups and downs, but we continue to GROW for the GLORY OF GOD! We continue to bear fruit (or leaves) Our purpose is to serve God in whatever situations He places us. (Some are uncomfortable but just push through it. ) Jesus is always there, leading us forth in triumph.
We are all growing and learning. None of us have reached perfection and honestly we won’t until we complete our journey. We can’t expect everyone to handle things the way we do. People are all types of varieties with all types of personalities and approaches. I will say that it can be tiring dealing with my own issues, then to come home and deal with someone else’s. That was the case last night. After RiceNBeans ministry time, I came home tired and just wanted to go to bed. (When there is a lapse in comprehending speech and just trying to get things done and be a blessing, I end up pretty tired trying to rise above it.) My husband Ron was again talking about his lost prescription glasses. He lost them two days ago. We looked everywhere and could not find them. So once again he was talking about that and I’m like “We have looked everywhere! They have to be in the house .” I went to the bedroom and was going to get in bed, in comes our son and Ron talking about washing clothes. It was nearly 10 at night. Couldn’t this wait? Apparently not. (You can insert a dramatic eye-roll) Evidently there was a stain on a new pair of expensive pants and it had to be removed right then. Okay! I wanted to go to bed as I was drained, but I turned around and headed to the laundry room. I told the guys what to do and specifically said not to put them in the dryer in case the stain did not come out. Saying “good night”, I went to sleep. This morning I woke up refreshed and had my quiet time. Next thing I knew, Ron was right there talking about his misplaced glasses. I get it! He needs them to see clearly although they aren’t that strong. I offered up a silent “God please!” Prayer. Ron left to take Joshua to Massage Thrapy School and I figured I’d use the time to dust the house really well. As I dusted, I prayed. As I prayed, suddenly God answered! I moved a picture frame on Ron’s bedside table and there were his missing glasses that had been pushed behind it. This was so encouraging. Life happens in all different scenarios. Just breathe deeply, dig in your heels and get it done. I think I willl bring this to a close. I did want to talk about the tree roots (that were not visible but I can just imagine) Maybe that will be my next blog. We’ll see.

We all encounter things in life that seem to be blocking our path. It could be something hindering you from moving forward. It could also be a lack of resources to reach your goal. I will throw in one more, lacking ability to reach your destination. Whatever the obstacle is, you’ve got to push through or find a way around it.
This week I’ve been studying some of the women of the Gospels. The account of the woman with the bleeding condition in Mark 5 beginning with verse 25, has always resonated with me. I mean the testimony of this women has always stirred me inside since I was young. Why? Well I can relate to suffering from something for many years. I can also relate to seeing many doctors who couldn’t really help. Besides the doctor who did my cochlear implant surgery in 2006, my incredible audiologist, and the doctor who assisted me when our son was born, the rest of them weren’t so helpful. ( well honestly they help with general things but not the hearing and vision issues) I’ve had a total of five eyelids surgeries and found out one was not even needed. That’s a little hint to my wariness of doctors.
As I studied to prepare for our weekly Bible study, once again the woman with the bleeding condition stirred my heart. One thing about teaching on a subject, you end up going a bit deeper. I have seen the story so many times but never really considered how negatively her bleeding condition impacted her life. Back in the Old Testament, people with a continuous discharge of any kind were considered unclean. What they laid on or sat on was unclean. Leviticus 15 explains the Old Testament laws concerning these things.
So this woman has suffered for 12 years with this bleeding condition. She has depleted her financial resources by seeing many doctors who could not help. She in fact got worse. Think of her physical, emotional, social and spiritual distress for 12 long years.
The word had spread of Jesus, His power and healing touch. Everyone must have been talking about Jesus and the special ministry of healing and compassion He shared. The woman heard that Jesus was there and she wanted to touch the edge of His robe. Mark 5:27-29 says, “She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.”(NLT)
That sounds like a pretty bold act of faith on her part. The crowd was pressing in on all side. She was probably weak and tired from blood loss. People in the crowd who knew her were possibly wondering ”Why is she here? She’s unclean”. She obviously didn’t care what the people thought. She was determined to get through the crowd and touch the hem of Jesus robe. She believed. She had great faith and acted n it. As a result she was healed immediately. Everywhere the Bible is shared, the story of her faith can encourage others.
She did not let the stigma of her condition prevent her from pushing through the crowd. She didn’t let her weakened condition or the pressing crowd hinder her. She was determined to push through and touch Jesus.
Is something stopping you from reaching out to Jesus in faith? Are you afraid of what others might think? God wants us to step out in faith. James 2:22 , says, “You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.”(NLT) James 2:26 goes on to say, “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”( NLT) Lord help us have that kind of faith that moves and acts, believing and trusting you.
Years ago there was a woman at our church with kidney problems. She had gone up to the front of the church for prayer. I felt a prompting to go pray for her but I resisted. I was like, “Lord who am I to go pray for her?Can’t I pray for here from where I am?” A period of time passed and there was an altar call at another church service. Many people had gone forward for prayer and the lady was on the stage. Once again I felt a prompting to go up and pray for her. This time I obeyed. She told me later she had the best week following that. What if we always acted promptly in faith, believing God for the impossible? Just like the woman with the bleeding condition who was determined to act in faith. The more we get to know Jesus and spend time in His Word (the Bible)the more likely we will walk in genuine faith. Praying, acting in faith, and watching to see what only God can do. He is God of the impossible. I love Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”(NLT)

I’ve been a Christian for a long time. Learning to pray God’s Will and not my own has been something I’ve had to learn over a long period of time. Sad to admit that it took me so LONG to learn this truth but I learned.
With this being the week leading up to Resurrection Sunday, I am so beyond thankful that Jesus chose the Father’s Will over His own Will. As Pastor preached this morning, tears silently rolled down my face. The magnitude of what Jesus did for us on the cross is so beyond our understanding. There is no way to express the thankfulness that I feel for Jesus sacrifice for me.
Jesus, God’s only son, who had never sinned, never done anything wrong, laid down His life for us. He took the wrath and fury of God, on Himself. Oh how I praise Jesus! To know that He paid my debt in full, so that I can live forgiven. God’s gift to us is a free gift that anyone can receive. How can anyone reject such an incredible free gift? Check out these verses from Romans chapter 3. “Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.” Romans 3:24-26 (NLT) Such amazing love God has for us!
God had to look away when Jesus was on the cross, bearing our sins. But….Yes there is a but, God saw the Big picture. He was looking ahead at the Resurrected Jesus! He was looking ahead at the Triumph over the enemy! He saw the big picture of His adopted children spending eternity with hHm in Heaven. Oh Lord help us to pray, “Not my Will but thy will be done.”
I was texting my Mom this afternoon. I asked her to keep praying about a situation. She said she would. We both agreed not to press the issue but let God do His work. We often try to “fix things” ourselves. “ Lord I have some ideas on how this might work!” How many of you do this? Surely I am not alone in trying to solve issues. But God! That is such a huge truth! But God! He sees the “Big” picture. He knows what He’s doing. My little ideas might not be over all bad ideas, but He sees ahead. He is timeless. He knows the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning. One step forward of faith, two steps backward trying to work things out on my own. It’s a back and forth shuffle but Praise God, as I continue to walk with Him, daily seeking Him, I’m moving more ahead than back. Thank you Jesus!
How many of you try to get out of what God’s brought you to do? I know I’m not alone here. I am still struggling with the concept of teaching Bible study when I can’t see the book and have trouble seeing my notes zoomed in on my iPad.
Teaching God’s Word is a weighty matter that I don’t take lightly. I can grasp a tiny bit the burden Pastors have . I see a little glimpse of that. So many times I have said “God I don’t want to do this”. Here I am still doing it because God has this door open and I am trying to obey. Not my will but thy Will be done.
I shared with my husband Ron and my Mom about this struggle. I know they are praying. As I’m preparing this week I feel a bit “lighter”. I’m trying to “let go and let God” sink this lesson deep down within the “spiritual well” of my heart. He is teaching me and I know He will let it “bubble up and pour out” as only He can make that happen.
What are you struggling to give to the Lord and let Him have His way? It’s not an easy place to be but the stretching is rewarding. God wants us to be a part of His work. John 4:35 says, “You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.” ( NLT). Jesus is talking about a “spiritual “ harvest.
Let’s be open to God’s perfect Will. Let’s open our eyes to see where He is at work and be willing to join in as He leads. Whatever you are facing, be encouraged that “It is finished’. Jesus has overcome it all. In His presence every “high place must come down”…every stronghold shall be broken”. Jesus wears the”Victors Crown”. All Glory and Honor to Jesus! So incredibly humbled and thankful.

Ever had times when things left you awe stuck and amazed? Recently I finished reading through the book of Genesis in the Bible. I’ve read this many time but this time the story of Josephs life hit me differently. It’s one thing to hear teaching on a few verses at a time, and a whole different thing to read the story though and get a full picture. Not only that but God can give you new insight each time you read something. You can come away with something fresh.
The incredible magnitude of God’s faithfulness in each affliction Joseph faced in his life had me in tears. From being thrown into a cistern by his jealous brothers, to being sold as a slave by those same brothers, being thrown into prison unjustly, to rising to the second highest in Egypt…..God was steadfastly faithful in each and every affliction. As I read with tears rolling down my cheeks, I said, “God you are SO faithful”.
How many of us can say that we don’t complain in the hard times?Anybody? I know I can’t. I do try to always see God’s ways in whatever I’m enduring but many times I fall flat on my face in that regard. Each time Joseph put his faith in God, in the midst of his trial. Each time God faithfully provided Joseph with favor to endure, even thrive through it all. There are so many lessons we can learn from Joseph’s life.
Today as I wrapped up the book of Genesis, Joseph’s father Jacob died and Joseph’s brothers are afraid that Joseph’s anger will come out from being treated so wrongly so many years ago. From a human perspective, Joseph’s brother’s had it coming. But watch how Joseph responds to his brothers after their father’s death. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.” Genesis 50:20-21 (NLT) Wow! Such amazing grace and forgiveness!
The grace and integrity Joseph showed throughout his life is something we should strive for. To develop the ability to trust God in the “land of affliction”. May we trust the sovereignty of God and trust He is working it out according to His purposes.
Sometimes the trials, afflictions or tests last a long time. May we learn to be fruitful for the glory of God through it all. May we learn to say “Yes Lord I’m going to praise you through this storm.” The song Yes I Will just came to mind. I will see if I can attach a music video at the end of this blog.
Praise God through it all! Learn to forgive those that hurt you. You might need to even forgive yourself. Don’t beat yourself up when you fall short. Confess, repent and then let it go. God is faithful through it all.
You may come to a point where you need to forgive God. I’ve known people who have been angry with the Lord for having to endure hardship and health situations. People get hung up on “Why am I going through this? Why am I STILL here Lord?” Still in the cistern. Still in the prison. You get the idea? God uses those things to mold us. Malachi 3:3 says, “He will sit like a refiner of silver, burning away the dross. He will purify the Levites, refining them like gold and silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the Lord.” (NLT). Even Job says the following after his many hard trials, “But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.” Job 23:10 (NLT)
Trust God. Trust His sovereignty Read His Word and learn His character. You are so greatly loved. Here are some more verses to learn from. “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5 (NIV)
I could go on and on here but I’ve done enough writing and sharing for the day. Learning from Josephs life has blessed me and I pray the lessons I’ve shared in this blog bless you as well. If you or a loved one are facing a hard time, Hang in there. God is not finished with you yet. He is doing a new thing. He can make a way where there isn’t one. Trust Him. Trust His process. ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV);. Let’s trust Him.

You most likely won’t guess the subject of this blog from the title. I won’t keep you in suspense. An old friend of mine that I used to work with calls all her great-nieces and great-nephews , Greatness #1, Greatness #2 and so on. I love her idea and want to use it as well. Wednesday night Greatness #3 was born in our family. I couldn’t be more excited.
Are you wondering why in the world I’m doing such a “happy dance” over here? Here’s the thing, I absolutely love seeing my brother’s family grow! You see, almost four years ago he was diagnosed with acute leukemia and there was so much uncertainty for the future. Although we trusted and continue to trust our Great God who holds our futures.
Today my brother is three and a half years post bone marrow transplant. He and his family went through such an ordeal and he is now thriving! This makes my heart so happy! Not only that , but he got to walk his daughter down the aisle a couple of years ago and he and his wife now have three grandchildren. What a beautiful miracle and to watch it all unfold. I thank God for these beautiful blessings to witness.
If you, your family or someone you know are going through a difficult time, please don’t lose hope. Put your faith and hope in Jesus. He has proven over and over in my life and my family that He is our “Anchor“ that holds us steady in the storms of life. Be blessed and keep trusting Jesus. Keep holding on.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 (NLT)
As I recently heard about the Asbury Revival in Kentucky, it got me thinking. We are in such a dire need of revival. Our world and culture are so evil. We are bombarded daily by sin and people’s indifference to it. I “sat on” this blog topic all last week because it seemed an overwhelming task to even address. There is a fierce spiritual war going on and many people just sit on the sidelines and do nothing. We must repent and pray! We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God.
This is not about going around judging people. It’s about allowing God to really examine our hearts and motives. Last week in my Bible reading I came across two verses in Psalms 24 verses 3-4: “Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.” (NLT). We need to ask, Lord are my hands clean? What abound my heart?
What people seem to forget is how Holy our God is! People are bombarded so much by sin they begin to accept it. Sex, violence, deception, pride, idolatry, worship of self, racism, disrespect and hate are constantly thrown in our faces by the media and entertainment industry. I personally don’t watch tv so I am careful what I expose myself to. When I am exposed to things of the world it really bothers me because I’m not used to it. I know what Gods Word says is right and wrong. I don’t water it down. It is what it is. Recently I finished a book that my book club was reading. It was a somewhat good book. However, for some reason the author shared the sex life of one character. It was so unnecessary. It would have otherwise been a good book without the casual sex encounters. That is a reflection of the society in which we live.
It’s not only spiritual warfare it’s psychological warfare as well. When people are exposed to some things so constantly over and over, it’s like they begin to just accept it as the way it is. However, Gods Word does not change. Since the beginning in the Garden of Eden, satan has twisted the Word of God. It is Imperative that we know the Bible and let it transform us through and through.
We need a revival and it starts with each individual person. Pastors must stop watering down the living Word of God! Preach the Cross! Preach the blood of Jesus! Preach repentance for sin! Preach resurrection! In Psalms 139, David cries out to God. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalms 139:23-24 (NLT)
This is War! It is crucial that we put on the armor of God every single day. (Ephesians 6:11-13) I recently was pretty annoyed by someone and was tempted to respond in the flesh which would not have been honoring to God. I asked my Bible study sisters to pray for me to resist the temptation. One reminded me to put on the helmet of salvation which included a mouth piece. I told her I needed a finger guard too to keep me from texting exactly what I thought. Just being real. No one is perfect. I never did say what annoyed me. I just needed prayer to not react in the flesh. The next day “Don’t rain on someone else’s parade” popped in my mind. When someone shares their experiences with me, I should not think of implications they might miss. If God wants to convict them, He will. I need to mind my own business. I‘m thankful for a teachable spirit.
I could go on and on with this but I’m going to wrap it up. Lord change us! Purify us and let revival come! “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” Galatians 5:16 (NLT)
A worship song is playing in my heart and I probably don’t have the words exactly right but here is what I’m singing right now. I’m going to praise you with everything in me. I’m going to lift you on high for all the world to see. I’m going to worship in every way that I can and when I’ve done it all, I’ll do it all again.

This morning as I let our dog outside I noticed the milder temperature and decided to have my quiet time out on the back porch. As I watched the sun rise I prayed and thanked God for all He is! I am always awestruck by nature. The heavens declare the glory of the Lord. Whether it be a sunrise, sunset or the beautiful moon, I delight in seeing them all. I can no longer see the stars. I’ve always wanted to look through a telescope to see the beauty of the night sky.
This week has been much milder and brings anticipation of Spring. My daffodils are coming up and there are buds on my tulip tree. Spring makes my heart so happy. After the dead season of winter, things come back to life. I stand in awe of you Lord. In the beauty of the sunrise. Then it’s suddenly hidden by a cloud. The beauty is still there, it’s just momentarily covered up. My heart sings praises to you Lord even though I have no idea what this day will hold. I do know you hold this day and that is enough. Jehovah sShalom my peace!
Not only does God’s creation inspire me but also seeing His hand at work in our lives, For months we have fought an insurance company on a situation arising from Ron’s eye surgery last summer. The insurance company gave us the “run around” and did not do what they were supposed to do, That left us with a very large hospital bill that we were never supposed to pay. In December Ron ‘s doctor told him he was glad Ron was fighting it. This has been a huge weight but I kept reminding Ron that God had it all covered. This week we got a letter from the hospital that the our balance is 0! ZERO! Ron was awestruck and had me to read it just to confirm. Indeed the balance has been written off and we owe nothing! We serve an AWESOME GOD!
Excuse me as I have a moment of worship….. I stand I stand in Awe of you… I stand I stand in awe of you ..🙌. Haven’t heard that song in years but my heart started praising so I looked it up for yu all. Never give up praying. When things seem impossible, that’s the perfect time for God to show up and show you that He is always able. Nothing is impossible with God.

Several days ago I published a blog titled “Thrown under the bus?” I wrote on life applications from the life of Joseph in Genesis chapters 37, 39-48. There are a couple more things I want to touch on before moving beyond this incredible character in the Old Testament.
It’s amazing to see God at work in the lives of people. Through the successes, failures, triumphs and trials: it takes the Holy Spirits guidance to see Gods hand at work through it all.
When Joseph was younger he had a dream about his brothers bowing before him. Genesis 37:8 says, “His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.” (NLT)
I may be wrong but I pick up on some immaturity in these earlier accounts of Joseph telling his brothers about his dreams. Once they sold him into slavery, all the many hardships, injustice and trials shaped his character. You see that God was with him during each trial and allowed him to succeed.
Years later when his brothers had to go to Egypt for food because the famine was so bad, his dream came true. At this time Joseph was second in command in Egypt and in charge of all the food. His brothers came before him to get food, not knowing he was their brother because he used an interpreter. Joseph could have gloated over them and reminded them of his earlier dream but he did not. However he did test them by asking questions about their family, if their father was alive, and if they had any other brothers. In this way he could see if they had changed.
When his brothers came back to Egypt a second time for food, he ended up telling them who he was. This is such a beautiful story of forgiveness. Joseph has seen the hand of God in his journey of grief. God has developed his character and he was able to freely forgive his brothers for all they did to him. Genesis 45:5 says, “But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives.” (NLT)
We all could learn something from Joseph’s life of example. Don’t let bitterness take hold in your heart. Forgive those who have hurt you and cause trouble. Unforgiveness and bitterness are like cancer. They eat away at you and spill over into every part of your life. Even if the person who wronged you isn’t sorry, you can still forgive them for your own sake. Forgiveness will set you free and enable your heart to heal. God forgives us and He expects us to forgive each other. I know it’s hard. One sure way to make it a bit easier is to pray for the person who wronged you. It’s hard to stay angry at someone you pray for. Give the situation to God and ask Him to work it out. Ask Him to help you love instead of hold grudges. He will set you free.
Another thing I really admire about Joseph is his ability to see God at work in his trials. He saw God preparing him. Sometimes we don’t have a clue what God is up to. Ok…most of the time! However when you have a relationship with God, you study His Word and who He is, you can glimpse Him working behind the scenes. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”( NLT)
In todays culture so many people are easily offended. If you want a true sense of humanity just get on a social media platform and read what people have to say. It is enlightening in the saddest way. God did not intend for people to be this way. God doesn’t want us to be judgemental and mean to each other. He wants us to love! Galatians 5:14 tells us, “For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NLT)
You might ask, “Who is my neighbor? Your neighbor is anyone you encounter. You might be thinking I’m a joke! I’m not! I’m just sharing what God’s Word says. He wants us to have a relationship with Him. He desires for us to live in love and forgiveness. Humanly this is impossible but all things are possible with God! (Matthew 19:26)
