Before Breakthrough Comes

As I think of blog ideas, I actually type the title then come back to it as more comes to me. During my daily Bible reading if I come across scriptures that fit a title,I add those in and wait for more to come. Truth be told, I originally titled this blog “ When Breakthrough Comes” but I’m still waiting….. so….”Before Breakthrough Comes” is going to have to do.

Life seems like a waiting game. We are always waiting for one thing or another. Whether it be losing weight, finding the right job, waiting for a good report from the doctor, healing, salvation of loved ones, peace…. The list can go on and on. What do we do when waiting for that breakthrough or goal to finally happen?

Move forward. We have to start somewhere and there is no time like the present to get started. Keep your eye on the prize. Never lose sight of what you’re hoping for. “I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.” Psalms‬ ‭77‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Difficulties are greet teachers. Romans 5:3-5 tells us, “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.” NLT
‭‭
Sometimes you’ve just got to push through. You can find the strength to press through discouragement and pain. Things worth accomplishing in life usually aren’t easily attained. You will have to work for it and be consistent. Faith is active. This applies to the physical as well as spiritual.

For illustration purposes and your amusement, heres a little recent story. Last week my husband Ron got me back in the gym. It has been over five years since I worked out consistently at the gym. Sure, I’ve been active on and off but not consistently trained in years.

On my first day back it wore me flat out. I was excited I could see the scale, although I did not like the number. I haven’t been able to see a scale in years. I could also see the time on the cardio machines. With this being day one, I didn’t do that much, some cardio and some weight machines. I came home and slept for two hours. A side note, it was a new environment and with the combination of low vision and hearing issues I was drained afterwards. Slow and steady, I need a balanced approach. I didn’t get here overnight and wont get back in shape overnight either. My first week I had a couple of gym days and one kayaking day. (Great upper body workout. ) That was plenty for week one.

This is week two and we’ve already stepped it up a notch. Two gym days have been cardio then weight machines. I’ve added in some three plus mile walks as well. Ron has me doing three sets of fifteen reps each on the machines. Let me tell you, there are no shortcuts with these exercises if I want the right outcome. Ron told me to do a full extension with the weigh, all the way, not just part of the way. Slow and full extension. Whoa… doing it right I felt my muscles burn that had not been used that way in far too long.

I was tired and ready to stop. Ron said, “ I want to show you one more thing.” If you know my husband there is no such thing as just one more thing. It ended up being three. The last exercise he gave me two weighted kettle balls and had me doing something for my legs. He said I wasn’t doing it right but I was copying what he was doing and told him so. He changed his form so I did too. Life application, copy what your teacher is doing. If you’re teaching set the right example. There are so many life lessons to gleam from training your body for results. It takes time and you’ve got to be consistent and put the work in. Slow and steady, breakthrough will come.

When it comes to faith and spiritual breakthrough these same principles apply. In my heart and spiritual vision I see healing coming. I had titled this “When Breakthrough Comes”. When I typed that title I meant healing and deliverance. I’ve been in this place for a LONG time and I BELIEVE God still heals. My neuro-sensory nerves and optic nerves need a touch from God. Why He has not yet, I do not know. Is the wait discouraging? YES! Is it frustrating? YES! Can God still heal? Absolutely YES!!

A group of friends and i have been praying for another friend from church. I do not know exactly what her health issues are. I just know she has serious health issues with her lungs and heart. Yesterday there was a remarkable praise report. Our friend’s lung capacity has increased 25%. That is answered prayers! Hearing praise reports like this encourage me to never give up believing in healing. Never give up and keep believing for breakthrough for things that SEEM IMPOSSIBLE! God is able! As I type this tears are streaming down my face and I softly sing: You deserve the glory and the honor. Lord we lift our hands in worship as we praise your holy name. You serve the glory and the honor. Lord we lift our hands in worship as we praise your holy name. Lord you’re great, you do miracles so great, there is no one else like you….there is no one else like you…. Lord you’re great, you do miracles so great. There is no one else like you…. There is no one else like you.

As you and I wait for our breakthrough, keep believing. Keep looking to Jesus. Faith is active. You’re going to have to do something even if it just crying out to God for help. He will meet you where you are. Step forward. Keep. moving. You are never alone. He’s got you. “You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭77‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬

An inspiring encounter

Me and Jared Jackson.

Just sat down with a cup of hot tea, while trying to gather my thoughts. It’s a rare day when I crank out two blog posts. I thought about combining this with the blog I published earlier today but this deserves its own entry.

My husband Ron and I went to Culver’s for lunch to get a good hamburger. As we walked in there was a guy with a table set up selling a children’s book he had written. Of course Ron started a conversation with him. Ron talks to everyone. As we stepped up to place our order, Ron told me the guy is blind. He is totally blind in one eye and can see slightly with the other. I said, “Let’s buy one of his books to support him.”

We sat down at a table close to where the guy had his table set up. I told Ron it takes great courage to do what this guy was doing. Ron told me I could set up a table too. I said, “ Would you talk to the people? He can hear what people are saying while I catch parts of it. ”

An inspiring blind author of children’s books.

After we finished eating, we went over introducing ourselves and purchased his book. He told us a little bit of his story and I told him a bit of mine and about my book. I watched with admiration as he signed the book for me. I personally don’t like to sign books in front of people because it’s hard to see what I’m writing. He had no issues with holding the book closely so he could see a little out of his one eye. I asked if I could have a picture taken with him and write a blog about meeting him. He agreed. Excuse my appearance in the picture. I had no intention of going anywhere today. It was a natural no makeup or hair products kind of day. This awesome inspiring guys name is Jared Jackson. As I brought the book home and put it under my video magnifier so I could read it, I discovered it is quite a cute book. Not only did he write it but he also did the illustrations. Check out Where Does the Man in the Moon Go During the Day? by Jared Jackson. You can find it on Amazon.

This was the first time I’ve ever met another blind author. I wanted to write this post to promote his book after reading it. He is a courageous inspiring man and did a fine job on his book. Check it out.

It is Finished

It is Finished! These are the last words of Jesus when He was on the cross before He gave up His spirit. How can I even put this into words? Jesus Christ was fully God yet He was also fully human, since He was born of a virgin. All His life He was intent on doing everything His Heavenly Father desired! Jesus prayed in the garden in Luke 22:42, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (NKJV). Let that sink deep within your heart. He knew what was coming, yet He loved us so much He was obedient even unto death on a cross. He who knew no sin, took all our sins upon Himself on the cross. He took our punishment. He suffered the most horrible torturous death for us, so that we would have victory in His blood and resurrection!

How in the world can people reject this free gift of salvation? Jesus has already paid the price for our sins. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬). Thank you Jesus! I can never thank you enough!

Jesus did not remain in the grave but rose again on the third day. Tomorrow we celebrate Resurrection Day! “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” I Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭55‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

While yesterday we remembered Jesus crucifixion, let me remind you that a lot can change in three days. Tomorrow as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, rejoice with exceeding gladness! “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭57‬ ‭(NKJV‬)

While there is so much more to be said, I am not a Pastor. I am a child of God, declaring to you about what Jesus has accomplished for me and you. If you don’t know Him as your Lord and Savior, surrender your life to Him today! Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”(‭NKJV‬‬) Choosing Jesus is the best decision you will ever make. Celebrate this Resurrection Sunday by accepting Jesus free gift for you. Thank you Jesus for all that you’ve done for me!!

The heart of the matter

Found on Pinterest.

What’s the state of your heart? It’s a pretty heavy question but begs an answer. All you have to do is turn your tv on, surf the web, see whats getting all the attention in society and the big arguments being heard everywhere and it spells depravity of hear! I’ve always been fascinated by why people act the way they do. More and more things are being twisted out of proportion. It makes me wonder where is logic? Do people even bother to think these days? It’s a relevant question worthy of consideration.

Right now I’m doing a couple of different Bible studies and reading through the Bible as well. It is astounding how stubborn the Israelites were in the Old Testament. One of the studies I’ve done recently talked about sheep and how incredibly stubborn they are. We can be referred to as sheep needing a shepherd. That particular lesson was on the Lord my Shepherd. It gave insight into how sheep behave and how Jesus provides for us, cares and protects us.

The lesson we discussed yesterday spoke on the Lord our righteousness. My Bible study sister asked me what difference knowing Jesus this way has made in my life. I told her it has made all the difference in the world. Because of Jesus sacrifice on the cross for my sins, because of his resurrection, because He forgives me when I confess my sins, He is my righteousness. When God looks at me, He sees His Son Jesus Christ. I’m forever thankful!

This evening I decided to cross reference a few of the scriptures to see how difference translations compare. I don’t typically read the Message but these next few verses I will share from the Message are quite interesting in that translation. “The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”” Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭(MSG‬ ) OUCH!! I’ve done some pretending before, how about you?

‬ Here’s another one. “Everyone’s after the dishonest dollar, little people and big people alike. Prophets and priests and everyone in between twist words and doctor truth. My people are broken—shattered!— and they put on Band-Aids, Saying, ‘It’s not so bad. You’ll be just fine.’ But things are not ‘just fine’! Do you suppose they are embarrassed over this outrage? No, they have no shame. They don’t even know how to blush. There’s no hope for them. They’ve hit bottom and there’s no getting up. As far as I’m concerned, they’re finished.” God has spoken.” Jeremiah‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭(MSG‬‬)

Whoa! Now that’s our present society right there! There are so so many half truths, flat our lies and darkness that people try to “ superficially heal”.

What the world needs is the Light of Jesus shining bright and exposing sins. God knows the helpless state of humanity, that’s why He gave us the new covenant. He wants to take away the hearts of stone and put His laws in our hearts. Ezekiel 36: 26-27 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (NKJV)

I find it so amazing how the Bible is so relevant today. It’s God’s love letter to us. It’s our instruction book to get through this life. I don’t know about you but falling in love with Jesus and accepting His free gift of salvation is the best thing I’ve ever done. The prayer of my heart is like King David’s in Psalms 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (NKJV)

God understands our desperate need for Him. Sometimes in the chaos of dealing with life, He seems so far away He is right there with you every step of the way. He can give you a new heart. He desires to be the “lover of your soul”.

The Bible study I refer to in this blog is written by Kay Arthur. It is called Lord I want to know you. I purchased the digital version but have also seen her Bible studies on Amazon. I have done many of her studies. They take you deeper into The Word of God.

Change Me

Found on Pinterest.

As I recently heard about the Asbury Revival in Kentucky, it got me thinking. We are in such a dire need of revival. Our world and culture are so evil. We are bombarded daily by sin and people’s indifference to it. I “sat on” this blog topic all last week because it seemed an overwhelming task to even address. There is a fierce spiritual war going on and many people just sit on the sidelines and do nothing. We must repent and pray! We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God.

This is not about going around judging people. It’s about allowing God to really examine our hearts and motives. Last week in my Bible reading I came across two verses in Psalms 24 verses 3-4: “Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.” (NLT). We need to ask, Lord are my hands clean? What abound my heart?

What people seem to forget is how Holy our God is! People are bombarded so much by sin they begin to accept it. Sex, violence, deception, pride, idolatry, worship of self, racism, disrespect and hate are constantly thrown in our faces by the media and entertainment industry. I personally don’t watch tv so I am careful what I expose myself to. When I am exposed to things of the world it really bothers me because I’m not used to it. I know what Gods Word says is right and wrong. I don’t water it down. It is what it is. Recently I finished a book that my book club was reading. It was a somewhat good book. However, for some reason the author shared the sex life of one character. It was so unnecessary. It would have otherwise been a good book without the casual sex encounters. That is a reflection of the society in which we live.

It’s not only spiritual warfare it’s psychological warfare as well. When people are exposed to some things so constantly over and over, it’s like they begin to just accept it as the way it is. However, Gods Word does not change. Since the beginning in the Garden of Eden, satan has twisted the Word of God. It is Imperative that we know the Bible and let it transform us through and through.

We need a revival and it starts with each individual person. Pastors must stop watering down the living Word of God! Preach the Cross! Preach the blood of Jesus! Preach repentance for sin! Preach resurrection! In Psalms 139, David cries out to God. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

This is War! It is crucial that we put on the armor of God every single day. (Ephesians 6:11-13) I recently was pretty annoyed by someone and was tempted to respond in the flesh which would not have been honoring to God. I asked my Bible study sisters to pray for me to resist the temptation. One reminded me to put on the helmet of salvation which included a mouth piece. I told her I needed a finger guard too to keep me from texting exactly what I thought. Just being real. No one is perfect. I never did say what annoyed me. I just needed prayer to not react in the flesh. The next day “Don’t rain on someone else’s parade” popped in my mind. When someone shares their experiences with me, I should not think of implications they might miss. If God wants to convict them, He will. I need to mind my own business. I‘m thankful for a teachable spirit.

I could go on and on with this but I’m going to wrap it up. Lord change us! Purify us and let revival come!
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

A worship song is playing in my heart and I probably don’t have the words exactly right but here is what I’m singing right now. I’m going to praise you with everything in me. I’m going to lift you on high for all the world to see. I’m going to worship in every way that I can and when I’ve done it all, I’ll do it all again.

I’m in Awe🙌

This morning as I let our dog outside I noticed the milder temperature and decided to have my quiet time out on the back porch. As I watched the sun rise I prayed and thanked God for all He is! I am always awestruck by nature. The heavens declare the glory of the Lord. Whether it be a sunrise, sunset or the beautiful moon, I delight in seeing them all. I can no longer see the stars. I’ve always wanted to look through a telescope to see the beauty of the night sky.

This week has been much milder and brings anticipation of Spring. My daffodils are coming up and there are buds on my tulip tree. Spring makes my heart so happy. After the dead season of winter, things come back to life. I stand in awe of you Lord. In the beauty of the sunrise. Then it’s suddenly hidden by a cloud. The beauty is still there, it’s just momentarily covered up. My heart sings praises to you Lord even though I have no idea what this day will hold. I do know you hold this day and that is enough. Jehovah sShalom my peace!

Not only does God’s creation inspire me but also seeing His hand at work in our lives, For months we have fought an insurance company on a situation arising from Ron’s eye surgery last summer. The insurance company gave us the “run around” and did not do what they were supposed to do, That left us with a very large hospital bill that we were never supposed to pay. In December Ron ‘s doctor told him he was glad Ron was fighting it. This has been a huge weight but I kept reminding Ron that God had it all covered. This week we got a letter from the hospital that the our balance is 0! ZERO! Ron was awestruck and had me to read it just to confirm. Indeed the balance has been written off and we owe nothing! We serve an AWESOME GOD!

Excuse me as I have a moment of worship….. I stand I stand in Awe of you… I stand I stand in awe of you ..🙌. Haven’t heard that song in years but my heart started praising so I looked it up for yu all. Never give up praying. When things seem impossible, that’s the perfect time for God to show up and show you that He is always able. Nothing is impossible with God.

2 year anniversary of an ongoing Miracle🙌

August 26, 2020

As I write this my heart rejoices in our miracle working, amazing, sustaining and faithful God! Two years ago tomorrow, my brother Forrest had a bone marrow transplant at Duke University. We praise God and are beyond thankful for giving doctors the wisdom to treat leukemia and for the miracle of allowing this transplant to be successful. The picture above is Forrest holding the bag of my harvested bone marrow before his transplant.

I remember sitting on my back porch during the summer of 2020. I remember praying and asking God to allow me to help my brother in some way. God answered that prayer. God some how allowed me to be a perfect bone marrow donor match for my brother. This all took place during the Covid-19 pandemic . Remember the masks, isolation, distancing, Covid tests just to make sure….etc? God sees every tiny detail and works it out according to His will. With me being hearing Impaired (hearing some with cochlear implant technology) and legally blind, and everyone was wearing masks at Duke, God allowed Forrest to be with me and help me understand. God was using him to help me, as He was using me to help Forrest. God is so good!

I wish I could say that it was a smooth ride but there were complications. However, every complication God sone how worked out. I will never fully understand the ordeal Forrest and his family endured. God did allow us to see the extraordinary support He gave them. Family, friends, church family, medical staff, and even strangers; God brought them all together to surround Forrest, his wife Jan and children and my parents. The prayer coverage, calls, cards, meals, gifts, and love lavished on them by our gracious loving God. We will never stop giving thanks to our “Way maker, Miracle working, promise keeping God”! He is faithful always! Romans 8:28 tells us “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”( ‭NLT‬‬)

We are so grateful for Gods Word that encourages us daily as we continue to walk in His grace. Psalms 91 is a passage of scripture Forrest and family cling to. These scriptures bring such comfort. The entire chapter is so reassuring. . I especially love verses 14-16, “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”(ESV)

There are some things to take away from this blog post. As Forrest continues to walk through the daily miracle God is performing, he is reaching out to others facing similar trials. It is encouraging to help people know they are not alone. 2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:4 says, “who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”(ESV‬‬).

Another thing to take away from this is, never underestimate what God is able to accomplish with brokenness. Check out what God says in 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” Just surrender all you have and let Jesus use you in whatever way He desires.

Each day is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present. Learn to live in the moment. We can’t worry about tomorrow or things from the past. Live in the present and give it as a gift to God for His glory.

We give all praise , glory and honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We praise God for all He is doing as He sustains and strengthens Forrest and family daily. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we trust in our Lord who holds all our tomorrows. We are so thankful!
‭‭ ‭
If you would like to read more of my story check out my autobiography, “Rooted by the Water”. Forrest blessed me by writing the Foreword. You can find it on Amazon in hard cover, soft cover and e book format. I will end this with the following scripture. Revelation‬ ‭1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” (NLT‬‬)

Stirred!

In all honesty I’ve been feeling kind of burned out. Being attentive on social media platforms can be soooo draining with my low vision and typing on an iPad touch screen. If you saw the amount of typing errors from not seeing the screen well, it would blow your mind. I then have to go back and correct each one with the screen zoomed in large. I’m talking”triple tap and drag” on my iPad… ZOOMING IN! It’s tedious and sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth it. Sometimes I laugh at the process and sometimes I shake a fist at the screen. It’s almost been one year now of blogging. I started this journey as a continuation of my book, “Rooted by the Water” ( available on Amazon) My journey didn’t end at the end of my book. God continues to teach me and stretch me. Sometimes I go with the stretch and yet sometimes Im resistant. Lord help me learn, surrendering daily to your gentle tug on my heart.

Here’s a fun fact about me, I never watch tv. There are so many remote controls I don’t even know how to turn it on and off. I’m not kidding. I’d rather download a book from Hoopla app and expand my mind. The entertainment industry shapes our culture. There is such a lack of moral values and integrity that it is astounding. Whatever happened to logical, open minded, civil discussion? Now it like, if you don’t agree with me I will just cancel you out. That’s the way people come across. It’s a sad broken world we live in. In todays society “good is considered bad and bad is considered good”. Here is a prime example, recently Foxnews posted on Instagram that celebrity Chris Platt was seen at a anti GLBT church. HELLO! What kind of headline is that? Talking about stirring up division. Out of curiosity I decided to read the comments. There is nothing like seeing the true state of humanity in all its various shades as reading public forums. Some people know what’s going on and some are truly in the dark. Deception abounds and what you hear and see plays a huge role in what you think. What are you exposing yourself to?

So back to the particular Instagram post, I don’t normally participate in these discussions but people need to know truth. John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”ESV. So I felt a need to reply, with love of course. After debating a guy for days about what the Bible says, I finally told him he didn’t know enough about Christianity to be having the discussion with me and he stopped responding. He was determined to say Christians are bigots. If you are a true follower of Jesus Christ you surrender you fleshly desires and live according to the Holy Spirit. I gently explained that according to the Bible we ALL have sinned and we ALL fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” ESV‬‬) Not just one group of people. God is HOLY. Sin is sin! God doesn’t tolerate sin. We could never make it on our own, that is why Jesus died in our place! And I will have you know that He rose again on the third day, has ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God.

Over the years the enemy has snuck into the church. Political correctness has snuck into the pulpit of many churches. We must pray that Pastors will preach the Gospel of Jesus crucified and resurrected. Preach the Word of God, “The Holy Bible” from beginning to end. Add nothing to it and leave nothing out! II Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ says “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” The English Standard Version says it this way, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for proof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

Even though I feel dried out form this process of social media and blogging, I will continue simply because God has once again stirred me. I pray daily, “Lord pierce the darkness! Shine brightly and expose deception!”. People read the Bible, pray, listen to the Holy Spirit and Shine for Jesus! Will you join me? The world is dying from lack of spiritual knowledge. I’m talking the truth of Gods Word, not some watered down gospel appeasing the itching ears. I’m going to stop here and pick up again on the topic of “stirring”. May Gods peace and joy rest on you as you seek Him. Be Blessed!

The Missing Link

All Smiles!

There is glorious light at the end of this struggle. Today I went back to my Audiologist for another mapping (programming) of my Advanced Bionics Marvel cochlear implant processor. The last several weeks have been quite an interesting challenge. After a week of a sound diet, having no auditory stimulation, followed by turning the processor back on to a low level; today she found the missing link. I had three electrodes that were turned off for some reason. My Audiologist tried turning them all back on but it was just one that made a big difference. Turning that one electrode back on brought a crispness back to sound. It no longer sounds muffled. She also turned the other two electrodes on and off while I listened to my husbands voice. I could understand him better with those two electrodes off. My nerves were able to tolerate the increase in sound without any eye twitching. I can’t begin to tell you how relieved I am. I am so so thankful to the Lord for His direction and wisdom. Ron and I have prayed throughout this process and family and friends have also prayed. It will take me some time to adjust to the new mapping but I’m all smiles! I can hear myself above the background noise so I know how loud to speak. I will have to get out in the environment to practice. If I learned anything this past time, I learned to ease into it. I will navigate this next stage with a more balanced approach. I am eager to explore sound and see what I can understand but I will not push myself too hard this time.

Thank you Lord for lessons learned. Thank you Lord for always being my anchor that holds me when troubled waters come along. Thank you for your promises that are new every morning.

We are considering looking into getting my other ear implanted. It is something that will require much prayer. It is an option to think and pray about. In the meantime, I will be working with what I have and trying my best to succeed with what God has given me. God is faithful always.

Never give up. It’s easy to get overwhelmed at times and changing coping methods is needed. However, giving up is not an option. It’s okay to take a step back, rest, refocus and ease into it again. There is help and support, you just have to be willing to accept it. You are never alone in the struggles! God is always right there with you as you lift up your voice in praise, thanksgiving and prayer. Help is on the way. It might not always look like you think it will. Putting your trust in God will see you through. God is faithful always! Let Him help you.

Three life seasons in a weekend

This weekend is packed full with different life celebrations. A memorial / celebration of life for a precious friend who recently passed away. A celebration of marriage for a young couple embarking on their married journey. Last but not least, celebration of Fathers Day. Celebrating my husband Ron and remembering my awesome Dad who is no longer with us.

Life comes at us all the time. We never know what lurks around the next corner but we embrace Jesus who holds us every minute of every day. He enables us to find the good in hard seasons like when we lose a loved one. He enabled us to speak life into other new life seasons and cherish and appreciate each stage.

The Memorial service

Recently a precious lady passed away unexpectedly. It seems surreal like it just can’t be true. When we got the news of complications after her surgery we all raised our voices in faith filled prayers before God to bring before God healing. He brought her healing in Heaven. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and precious friend. One thing that stood out to me in her beautiful memorial service was, the Pastor said she preached her own funeral by the way she lived her life. The words spoken weren’t just empty words. They were true. She will never know the impact of her sweet spirit, love, encouragement, kindness and faith. May God comfort her family as they struggle with her loss.

The wedding

Today we got to witness a sweet couples wedding. We’ve known the bride since she was born. Such a beautiful young lady inside and out. We were happy to be a part of their celebration as they begin their married journey together.

I remember our wedding day. It was over 28 years ago. Being in love and ready to start life together, is like planting roots. Living out the promises you make to one another before God, day after day, takes commitment. It takes three: the bride, the groom and the Lord. A cord of three is not easily broken. We wish this sweet couple a lifetime of happiness.

Fathers Day

We have been celebrating Ron all weekend. Friday night our son Joshua wanted to have dinner together, then today we all attended the wedding together. Tomorrow Joshua will join us for church then a lunch for Ron.

It will be a bittersweet day as it will be the second Fathers Day without my Dad. I was a Daddy’s girl and I sure do miss our talks. Dad was a great listener. He would let me talk and give me words of wisdom and advice. I know he’s celebrating Father’s Day with our Abba Father. There is nothing like the love of a Father for his children.

Experiencing various parts of life’s journey over this weekend makes me reflect on the goodness of God. In all the seasons of life He is faithful and so so good!

Cherish a relationship with God and if you don’t have one, I urge you to get to know Jesus. It’s the best decision you will ever make. He is always there loving you and waiting for you to open the door of your heart to Him. He will see you through each season of life. The happy times, the difficult times, the joys and struggles, He is there every step of the way. Thank you Jesus!
